Everstream Invests in Historic Knapp’s Centre

Company relocates to downtown Lansing; Prepares for growth

Lansing, Mich.–Oct. 12, 2016 –Everstream, a superregional fiber-based network service provider, is opening its Michigan regional office in downtown Lansing’s historic Knapp’s Centre, 300 S. Washington Sq.,—building upon the company’s commitment to growing jobs and investing in the region’s economic vitality.

“Everstream is committed to increasing our regional footprint through continued investment across the Midwest,” said Brett Lindsey, president and chief executive officer, Everstream. “We have a great deal of confidence in our ability to drive customer acquisition and network expansion across Michigan.”

Since the acquisition of GLC/Comlink in June, Everstream has added eight to its Michigan team, growing the technical, operations and sales groups as necessary to support current and new customers. The company plans to grow to more than 50 team members by 2017.

With its expanded service area, Everstream will be able to provide enterprise businesses, carriers, partners and wireless carriers with connectivity from Cleveland through Detroit, Lansing and Grand Rapids, over to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, down to Chicago, South Bend, Indiana, and Columbus, Ohio, before ending back in Cleveland.

Everstream will occupy more than 6,000 square feet of space on the center’s first floor and expects to take occupancy in early January.

“I am delighted to welcome Everstream to the historic Knapp’s Centre in downtown Lansing and I applaud their commitment to driving growth in the urban core,” said Virg Bernero, Lansing mayor. “Lansing’s tech sector is growing by leaps and bounds. Everstream’s choice to locate here adds to that momentum, and continues to diversify our region’s economic foundation.”

“LEAP is very pleased that Everstream is building upon the previous company’s presence in the Greater Lansing region,” said Bob Trezise, president and chief executive officer, Lansing Economic Area Partnership (LEAP). “Everstream’s decision to retain and add new jobs to grow market share in Michigan demonstrates our region’s strength as a tech hub and will add to the vitality of Greater Lansing.”

Built in 1937, Knapp’s Centre was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. Local developer and property owner Eyde Co. completed a two-year renovation project before reopening the five-story, 190,000-square-foot Knapp’s Centre in 2014. The building once housed the main department store of Lansing-based J.W. Knapp Co.

“We are delighted to welcome Everstream to our already dynamic mix at Knapp’s Centre,” said Matt Eyde, principal, Eyde Co. “This high-powered telecommunications group adds to the businesses that have found a home in the building. We look forward to a strong future for Everstream in Lansing.”

Similarly, Everstream moved its Cleveland headquarters to the historic Halle Building, 1228 Euclid Ave.,—the flagship store of the former local department store chain—in the heart of downtown Cleveland in April.
